A suitable welcome

We paved this road for years… Though it was a long road, pitted and rough, I followed it, fighting the urge to run. And when the road became a circle, I followed it still. Blinded by determination and hope, I waited for the exit sign. I was lost… Round… And round… The exit never came.

Then a train passed me, deafening and fast. I jumped on the last car. As we sped on, faster and faster, the train exploded, car by car, and threw us off the track. I landed far, far away from that old road.

But now I am lost again, in the middle of a hundred new, long roads. Some may be pitted and rough, some perhaps not as much. Each however is clearly marked, with exit signs illuminated overhead. So as long as
I just start walking, I will never be lost again.
